The benefits of yoga for mental health and wellbeing are well-documented in research and the evidence base keeps on growing. I am inviting you to experience the therapeutic effects of this ancient mind-body practice for yourself in one-to-one sessions (90 mins, 90 euros). Contrary to popular belief, you don't have to be super flexible, slim, young or strong to do yoga - yoga meets you right where you are and can be adapted to any level of fitness.
Yoga is not just the postures (asana), it is a holistic system that has many aspects to it: habits and thoughts (yamas and niyamas), breathing (pranayama), attention (pratyahara and dharana) and meditation (dhyana). Yoga has a lot of tools to offer for stress, anxiety, trauma, depression, disordered eating and substance abuse issues. By gently working with the body and the mind, it teaches you to release tension, develop inner calm and awareness, and regain confidence. Yoga offers a valuable addition to psychotherapeutic work.
Over the period of 8-12 weeks we will track the changes in your well-being using questionnaires so that you will have an understanding of how it is working for you; I recommend 1 or 2 sessions per week plus a home practice. You can book your first therapeutic yoga session (1 hr, 60 euros) on this website and of course, do get in touch with me if you would like more information.
About me: I am a registered psychologist and I have completed a Yoga Alliance certified yoga teacher program (2016), training in Vinyasa yoga. I will provide all the props you need for the session and a personalised home practice plan.
